DIY: Deep cleansing pore strips

A few years back, I used to buy the commercially available pore cleansing strips.  I eventually stopped using them because they were very difficult to remove once dry.  Luckily, it’s very easy to make pore cleansing strips at home.  Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 egg white
  • paper towel/kitchen paper (more resistant then tissue)
  •  a bowl
  • a whisk or fork

Benefits of egg whites for the skin:
Egg whites are a good source of protein, and thus can be used to heal and rebuild the skin.  The protein content in egg whites helps to absorb excess oil in the skin and can also provide a temporary reduction in wrinkles and give the skin a smoother look.  Besides, the enzyme Lysozyme, preserves the skin's natural elasticity and tightening pores.

Method:
  • Wash and steam your face to make blackhead extraction easier.
  • Separate the egg white from the york and whisk the egg white.

  • Cut strip/s from a paper towel.

I use 2 strips (1 for my nose and 1 for my chin)

  • Spread the egg white on the area/s you want to apply the strip/s.
  • Apply the strip/s.
  • Using a brush, apply some more egg white on the strip/s.
  • You can apply the remaining egg white to your face and neck, as a facial mask.
  • Make sure to leave the strip/s on until completely dry, and then remove carefully.

This is what the strips look like after use! ;)

Blackheads and impurities will stick to the strip/s, clearing your pores!  Finally, wash your face, tone and moisturise as usual.

Tell me, have you ever tried DIY cleansing strips?  What's your opinion?

I've tried two, the first one I tried was a gelatin and milk mixture by Michelle Phan, It worked well I just didn't like the smell. The second one was just school glue, It's cheap quick and it works, I di this one about 2 or 3 times a week.

@Anonymous Just make sure you use a non-toxic, washable glue. :)
